Tak, brytyjczycy i ich mola. Tu mamy znakomity przykład, wybudowane w roku 1866 służyło zarówno urlopowiczom jak i mieszkańcom przez ponad sto lat. To jest jedyne molo w kraju, które zyskało tytuł zabytku pierwszej klasy (najbardziej chronione zabytki w Wielkiej Brytanii). Dostarczało ono wiele atrakcji, między innymi teatr z prawdziwego zdarzenia. Molo zaczęło podupadać po drugiej wojnie światowej. Stopniowo zanikające zainteresowanie i konkurencja drugiego mola (Palace Pier) doprowadziły do jego zamknięcia w 1975 roku. Od tego czasu powoli popadało w ruinę. Niezliczone sztormy i dwa konkretne pożary tylko przyspieszyły proces. Dzisiaj pozostaje tylko część centralna, na której znajdował się teatr. Odnoszę jednak wrażenie, ze długo już nie postoi…

Yes, the Brits and their thing for piers. This one was build in 1866 and served both the holiday makers and the locals for a bit over a century. It is the first and only pier to have become a Grade I listed building. There was a great number of attractions, including a grand theater in the centre. After the Second World War its popularity was diminishing, partly due to the success of neighbouring Palace Pier. It eventually closed in 1975. Since then the whole structure was slowly falling to ruin. The numerous storms and two big fires in the 00’s surely accelerated the process. The last remaining bit is the the main structure, however it does not seem it will last much longer…
