Jedno z lepiej zachowanych średniowiecznych toskańskich miasteczek, a wybór jest niebanalny. Spośród tłumu wyróżnia je obecność wysokich, przydomowych wież. Otóż w przeciwieństwie do wielu innych miejscowości nie wszystkie zostały zdemontowane (przykładowo Lucca – miasto dziesięć razy większe, wież było kiedyś około 250 a zostało kilka. W San Gimignano tymczasem z 72 ostało się 14). Dominują one całkowicie i dają się zauważyć z wielu kilometrów. Widok trafnie nazwany prez mą lubą średniowiecznym Manhattanem 🙂

Poczekałem sobie spokojnie do wieczora i praktycznie całą mieścinę miałem dla siebie.

One of the best kept Tuscan medieval towns, and there is a vast choice in the region. It stands out from the crowd thanks to its tall towers. As opposed to many other towns not all structures were demolished (let’s take Lucca for example – out of about 250 towers there is only a few left. In San Gimignano, settlement ten times smaller and out of 72 we can still enjoy 14). They dominate the landscape and can be seen from many kilometers. The view aptly described by my companion as an medieval Manhattan 🙂

I have waited peacefully till the evening and had practically whole town for myself.
